Young Enterprise is the UK’s largest business and enterprise education charity which helps 250,000 young people learn about business and the world of work in the classroom under the guidance of a network of 5,000 volunteers from 3,500 companies.
Under the company programme students set up and run a real firm for a year under the guidance of a business advisor and get practical experience of the joys and pitfalls of creating a truly functioning enterprise.
This renowned programme has been running since 1963 and in that time a million 15-19 year olds have taken part in the UK. Independent research shows it helps develop key skills that enhance young people’s employability and enterprise capabilities.
This year a group of students from Bayside Comprehensive School have set up a company called BioDiversity that are promoting environmental awareness and have created a children’s book focusing on environmental awareness.
Grant Thornton is proud to sponsor BioDiversity so that they are able to market and create the product and wish the team all the best in this exiting venture.
